01 / Why we exist
Serious advice should not be reserved for large companies.
Large corporations have boards, consultants and specialist teams to pressure-test every decision. Most founders have themselves, a few trusted people and whatever they can find online. The gap between those two is where good businesses lose years.
AJR Ventures was formed to close that gap. We bring the structure and discipline of professional advisory to founders and owner-operators, delivered at a scale and in a manner that suits a growing business.
We combine consulting, hands-on services and education because founders need all three: someone to help decide, someone to help build, and the knowledge to keep going once the engagement ends.

Ismael Rivera
Founder
Ismael Rivera founded AJR Ventures to bring an operator's perspective to the founders and owner-operators building businesses across the United States.
He started his first business at 18 and has spent the decade since building, growing and selling companies in online business and marketing. His most recent venture generated more than $5 million in sales in 18 months.
That record includes setbacks as well as successes, and both have shaped how he works. His approach is practical and direct, built on the fundamentals that let a business last rather than the tactics that make it look good for a quarter.
Through AJR Ventures, Ismael works with founders on strategy, operations and growth, and leads the firm with a long-term view: creating lasting value for the businesses he works with, and a lasting legacy for his family.

We build, not just advise
Recommendations are only useful if they get implemented. Where it helps, we roll up our sleeves and build the system, the model or the process with you.
We look at the whole business
A sales problem is often an operations problem, and a cash problem is often a pricing problem. We look across disciplines before deciding where to act.
We teach as we go
Every engagement transfers knowledge. Our goal is a founder who understands the work well enough to own it, not one who depends on us.

The commitments behind every engagement.
Written scope before work
Objectives, deliverables, responsibilities and fees are agreed in writing before an engagement begins, and changes are agreed the same way.
Confidentiality by default
Client information is used only for the engagement it was shared for. We never discuss one client's business with another, and we sign NDAs on request.
Honest about fit
We take on work only where we believe we can make a real difference. When we cannot, we say so early.
Licensed matters stay with licensed professionals
Legal, tax and investment questions go to your attorney, CPA or adviser. We coordinate with them rather than substitute for them.
Independence
Our recommendations are made in your interest. If we ever suggest a vendor or partner in which we have an interest, we disclose it.
Accountable to results
Each engagement closes with a formal review of what was delivered against what was agreed.
